Let the Wedding Planning Begin

December 04, 2012

So for the next year or so you'll be seeing more posts on wait for it.. wedding planning :) I have waited a long time to finally be able to say that, but what girl doesn't dream about planning their wedding?  It still feels so surreal that I am actually an engaged woman, although I don't know why I feel that way considering I get to stare at the pretty rock that is my engagement ring all day and it never gets old! Anyways, onto the post where I share all my fabulous wedding pins that have been piling up over the last few days months!

[L:R, T:B- 1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

There are so many DIY pins out there for weddings and those above are a few of my favorites, especially the Tin Can Lanterns can you say awesome?

These are just a few of the many pins that you'll find if you follow me on pinterest. I actually have two boards on weddings one from before I got engaged and the other to start actually E+B wedding planning. I am so beyond excited and have already started to look for our venue, but that is still a work in progress. So for all you married woman out there or brides to be, what is one thing you wish you would have known while planning your wedding? Have any other wedding advice for me? I'd love to hear it :) Happy Wednesday!

  1. Happy Wedding planning! :) I do not enjoy wedding planning lol that's why Kyle and I had a very small wedding with only 13 people there.

  2. I'm kind of a fuddy duddy - If I had known what we would have ended up spending on our wedding verses what we actually budgeted; mind you we cut every corner, had a small simple wedding with DIY everything. I would have gone to the Courthouse or radically cut the wedding down to immediate family and closest friends. I really wish we had that money as a nest egg, or better yet a down payment on a house!

  6. Oh how I wish I had known about Pinterest when we planned our wedding (I dont even know if it has been around for 3 years or not...) Anyway, my wedding advice would be that the little details are fun to plan, but in the end your guests are coming to see you, so don't let the little details take over. We knew that besides the actual ceremony we wanted 2 things - (1) great photographs to remember the day and (2) for our guests to have amazing food at the reception - we had been to way to many wedding receptions where the food was not good! Figure out what is most important to you and your hubby-to-be on your big day and focus on that part of the wedding. Oh, and don't get caught up in all of the "month by month lists of things you need to have done". I let those lists stress me out. But you really do not have to do everything on them...Can't wait to see what you plan :) Good Luck!

  7. I must have missed this announcement!! A huge congratulations to you!!! Wedding planning is so fun. I wish I had Pinterest when I got married! I think the big thing for me is to make sure that guests are well fed and you have great photos. I also wish I would have hired a videographer.

  8. Happy Wedding Planning! Can I just say how jealous I am that pinterest is around for yours, as it wasn't around when I was planning mine a few years ago.

Enjoy every second of it, as it'll fly by! You're only engaged for about a year or so, but you'll be married for the rest of your life, so don't forget to sit back and enjoy the engagement period :)

  12. I agree with Rebekah above. I wish I had really thought more about the budget and what I was giving up by spending so much on my wedding. My father paid for a good amount, but we ended up basically matching his - and now that we have a house we really could have used that money elsewhere. Really think about how important it is to you to spend, say, $700 on invitations (...whoops.) xo C

  17. The most important thing to remember is that you don't need an expensive wedding to have a happy wedding. A happy couple and their family can have a fabulous time getting married in the park and having a potluck reception - the important thing is that they're all together.
