READY, SET, PLAN

It's wedding season ya'll and I can officially say that wedding planning is in full force over here.  I mean seriously it's all I think about, talk about, and lately dream about. (weird?) Wedding planning posts are also about to blow up your blog feed so I hope you don't mind too much. After having such a long engagement it always felt like the day would never arrive and here we are 5 months out. CRAZY! Honestly, I have never pinned so many wedding related pins as I have been the last few months, so you'd think I'd have all the answers, but since we all know that blogs are the best place to go for advice, let me ask you this.

In which areas can we save a penny or two by incorporating DIY projects?

  1. So excited for you guys! For our wedding we did a ton of DIY projects, one of which was making individual photo albums for each table that were filled with pictures of us when we were little and our journey together. Also we thrifted a lot of glassware for center pieces or just asked people if we could borrow items and they gladly agreed :)

  3. I did a lot of DIY for my wedding. I created all the centerpieces... buying the supplies slowly and with coupons! I made the bouquets with flowers from Hobby Lobby & Michaels. Invitations and programs also made by myself and a group of girlfriends. We made assembly lines while drinking wine and watching Mama Mia!
If you don't have to have fresh flowers, don't! They are expensive and always a huge cost to a wedding! Hope that gives you some ideas! Good luck and have fun planning!

  4. We got married in August and couldn't believe how the costs kept getting carried away! We made our own place cards from wine corks (collected from thirsty family and friends!) and simple tags from Michael's. We typed our programs in Word and had a local church print them for 5cents each (we provided paper from Hobby Lobby). Anything you need in bulk and isn't personalized can be found at HL. Lanterns from IKEA were $7.99- a steal!

  5. We made our own invitations, programs, and escort cards. We saved TONS of money there. We were able to find a pattern we liked online for $5 and then all we had to pay were the printing costs. Soooo much cheaper. If you want any additional info or help on that, feel free to contact me!

  9. I just got married last June, so I recently went through all of the planning. As far as DIY goes, I put together my own centerpieces using supplies from Dollar Tree. They actually can have some cool wedding decorations there. I also had my guests ring little bells tied up with ribbon (instead of throwing birdseed, blowing bubbles or sparklers) when John and I left the reception. We put those together ourselves and it was really easy. I'll put some of my wedding pictures up on my blog pretty soon and you can see what I'm talking about. :)

  10. I hear ya! We had a year and a half engagement. I was ALL about wedding planning and pinning the first few months while my fiancé just wanted to enjoy our engagement. Now, I'm completely burned out on wedding planning with less than 3 months to go! Eek! I'm not sure if there is ever a "perfect" balance.
